Elos test kit

i got a alk test kit from jl the other day, my reading was 19dkh, an on seachem im getting around 9dkh, api i get around 7-8dkh, so whats the correct reading here? do u guys think the elos alk kit bad batch?

whiteice669 09-30-2008 02:50 AM

are you reading from the card or the instructions ?

dawen 09-30-2008 02:53 AM

im reading from the instruction, it took me 19 drops to get the color to turn yellow

That would be 9.5 dkh on the elos test kit. There is an error on the instructions, they have not been updated. Read from the back of the card. 1 drop is equal to .5 dkh.

HAHAHA, u were right, i just notice on the card 1 drop = .5 dkh, thanks for all you guy's help

messed me up when i bought a new kit also.
im not sure but i think both the old and new alk tests have a 20ml bottle of solution which means you now get half of the tests as you used to but they are accurate down to .5 instead of 1 whole point

yeah I found that kit interesting as well as it says in the foldout instructions that one drop is equal to 1dkh and then on the card it says one drop is equal to 0.5. Confused me for a bit until I saw that on the card

How do you guys find the Elos test kits? Much better than Salifert or is it minimal? Are there some test kits that you'd be better off using Elos and others that won't matter if you're using Elos or Salifert? Thanks. Sorry to hijack.

christyf5 09-30-2008 05:27 PM

IMO I get the same results with both for the Alk test so either kit works for me. Its easier for me to get the Salifert ones tho so likely when this Elos is done I'll just be continuing with Salifert.
