ive got the pcx40 pump running my skimmer. whats required in terms of maintenance?
how often do these units need to be taken apart? what needs to come apart?

They are good budget pumps, not as good as the ones that cost twice as much, but what do you expect.

Once a year or so take it apart and soak the volute and cover and impeller (all the plastic pieces) in vinegar overnight.

I usually use this opportunity to take off the dust cover and fan and clean all the metal assembly.
