I assume things have evolved a little as the board has grown, but presumably staff's good judgement to date allow this board to operate as it does. It is a active and many people participate. This can not be said about all forums.

Ya, ever. Years of bad experience with postings of that nature dictate that they can not be allowed, as it disrupts the entire board and makes the staff cranky. We felt the members needed some place to express satisifaction, and now it's here. If vendors need to discuss a deal gone bad, they can do it offline with the member that posted a poor review.

I have threads in my forum in which to post feedback. Seem they are rarely used (at least for the negative aspect - perhaps associated with staff requirements). I hound people to leave feedback following delivery...I sincerly hope staff would NEVER edid text in my forum without my permission. Personally, and perhaps because I spend so much time online, I have no problem discussing any issue in an open forum.
Careful what I wish for??? All I wish for is an opportunity to address concerns people have in a honest, professional manner. Rarely are these issues brought to my attention otherwise (PM, email etc.)

On a side note, you do have your own forum, and you can illicit whatever type of info you want in there. In fact, you could create your own poll and have everyone post their views and discuss freely. That's the "paid forum" part. The rest is free to all and needs to managed by the staff as they deem neccessary.
My advice? Be careful what you wish for :)
