Salt Creep
I'm still researching SW, so forgive the newbie question.
I see a lot of salt creep on tanks. What causes it? Any way to stop or manage it? How often? I want to set up a tank in our living room, so it has to be presentable. Know what I mean? Thanks |
You get salt creep when small droplets of salt water evaporate leaving behind the salt. The more splashing and bubbles you have, the more salt creep you'll get.

I'll get a little on the inside on the euro-bracing and the glass covers on the pendants but with a closed hood, nothing noticeable on the outside

Are we supposed to be putting salt in the water... Oh hell....
Really though, salt creep really isn’t a big deal – a damp paper towel every time I do a water change. It adds about a minute to my weekly maintenance schedule. |
