millepora bleaching?
i just added a millepora colony to my tank yesterday and part of it is bleaching out. i was wondering what causes bleaching and how to fix it.( i have had this problem with an acro frag in the past and just thought it was a bad specimen but i dont want to lose this one). any help would be great.
Thanks Trevor |

I had a an sps that totally bleached out. I thought it RTN'ed but I could see polyps on it. I moved it lower in the tank and it took month before any color came back. The coral sounds stressed or it has RTN'ed on you

Whats your sg?
Thats pretty fast to bleach out unless your lights are drastically different than the tank the monti came from. |
Never had one of these but is it:
On the bottom Strong Flow Mod-High light If you just added it yesterday most corals take time to adjust to their new surroundings. How old is your tank?? |
tanks a year and a half. SG is 1.024. temp was at 82 could that be the problem?

82 is kinda hi

82 is not high as long as the temp stays consistant, my tank runs at 81-81.5 24/7 and is very healthy. It is drastic daily temp fluctuations rather that any certain set temp that can be bad for the general tank health. |
Sometimes RTN situations just cannot be explained, some wild harvested colonies just never seem to acclimate vs aquacultured varieties.

My tanks have hit 86 with no problems, I doubt it's the temp.
Is it just getting paler or is it actually losing tissue? As Oceanic said sometimes wild harvested colonies never adjust to life in a tank |
