Do you mean the brown-green patch on the top right side of the mantle? Looks like its colouring up for you.

The clam is changing colours thats what it is. Unless it has an odd texture to it, however the photo doesn't show that.

You could try placing it in more light or feeding it more often. I've seen clams loose a little color before from being malnourished. However more likely the clam is just getting it's mature colors as already stated.

I think that is normal coloration for that kind of clam. They routinely get gold patches mixed in with the overall blue.

I don't know, It makes sence that it could be coloring up but it almost looks like a different texture than the rest of the clam? How do clams work as far as symbiotic algea, does anyone know (excuse me if this is a stupid question) but can clams bleach out?

It looks to me like somethings picking at it. I had a small one once that my cleaner shrimp AND peppermint shrimp started nibbling on.
