for sale items in active threads
 

Since this forum is pretty busy I was wondering if anyone considered the possibility to eliminate classified threads from showing up on the active thread page. Every time I check the home page it's filled up with for sale items, I personally think it would be much better if threads from the classified section didn't show up on the home page.

Not sure if it's possible or if anyone else agrees but it's an idea non the less.

Well, since lots of people come here to find exactly that, I'm sure they'd be upset with it being moved. Last time I did stats on this, 68% of threads showing up (on average) where for sale items. But, that is a large part of what goes on here, so I'm not sure we'd change it (if it can even be changed)

I love to seew whats for sale as much as what happening with someone tank.Guess no good to someone out of town.Clint

Agreed, I'm just as quick to jump on a good deal as I am to jump on a good information or discussion thread.

Fair enough, I just figured that if you were looking for something you could always check easily enough.
Others have told me they don't like the forum as it seems to based more on selling, I don't necessarily agree but can see where they get that from. Sometimes the active thread page is completely full of for sale items.

I think thats the best part of canreef, being able to buy and sell and chat with local reefers.
Some of the other boards are overcrowded with americans and newbs. This is the only board i check every day.

Some people on this board NEED the discounts and deals you can find in the classifieds and I am sure those of us who really do have to count how much we spend on this hobby are grateful for the extra seconds seeing those classifieds in the active threads forum give us to get the jump on he other deal hungry reefers....

Maybe we should make the active threads ONLY identify the classifieds and let people who just want to sit back and enjoy some good discussion or analysis do so fromt e convenience of whatever thread or forum they most enjoy....

By "active threads"...do you mean when you click "New Posts"? If so, ya I kinda agree with you, it's rather a clutter with all the classified ads. It would be nice if you could go into the classified forum, and be able to find New Posts just in there. But it's normal for the forums to work that way, and I don't think it's feasible to change it. :)

Leave it as is.

Heh we don't really have a choice, theres no selection for which threads appear when you click "new posts" they just all show up if you haven't already read them.
