Plumbing Question

Well, actually....a few:
  1. Will the weight of the plumbing stress the bulkhead and/or glass of the external overflow? Do I need to support the weight somehow?
  2. If I painted a pipe with Krylon Fusion, will the PVC glue still bond the pieces together just as well?

Thanks in advance!

1. Don't know, but you can get those strap things to hold up plumbing
2. Glue then spray if you can, I do not know of the other way around.

1) No support needed.

2) Paint then use primer before gluing and you should be fine. The primer should remove the paint from the gluing surface.

You could just mask the pipe ends before painting if you have it all cut to length first.

I've painted and then glued myself, the primer just melts the paint away.

Thanks all for your replies. I do plan on supporting the piping, just for my own personal ease of mind.

As well, I DID discover that the primer dislolves the paint. Sweet. As well, I also masked off the few pipes I hadn't already painted.

Thanks again :)

Support depends on the pipe layout. If its a straight down drain, then should be no problem. But a bulkhead in tank bottom, then having the pipe go horizontal for a while, that will stress the glass for sure.
