Mystery from below
Ok, I am looking through my tank last night and I see what appears to be a sausage-like casing with 2 antenna sticking out of it.{will try to get pics later} There is no creature in it but initially I am thinking Bristleworm? I don't see any other issues with corals or fish so I am thinking all ok for the most part. I am checking my e-mails and I hear three small snap sounds. I then think Pistol Shrimp?? But I do have a Pistol in my small tank at work and these insect shaped casings are far bigger than my little guy at work. The other thing I don't see is mounds of sand moved around as my Pistol at work does. Any suggestions and although I don't see any damage to corals or lifestock am I playing with fire? Has anybody else seen these things in their tank? As I said I will try to get pic's this evening when I get home.

SOME type of sponge...lol not sure some of it grows on my rock that look like that
|
yeah it looks like sponge to me too. the antenna looking growths are a bit weird though. then again, sponge can take on some pretty wacky forms. when you touch it, can it retract at all? does it react to any nervous stimulus?

nudi of some kind?
|
i have one at the back of my tank i believe, never gave it much thought, always assumed it to be a wierd sponge? the antennas really throw me off though, mine looks identical minus antennas ..poke it

Mine have the atena and when thy touch another piece of rock it expands again in to a sponge...lol
guess its one way to move around the tank or spread would be easyer to shoot off long atena till tou touch something worth growing on |
It sure looks strange though. I was looking through my tank for some type of a creature that I was never able to find. Had visions of something taking a nasty bite out of me.
