Zeovit with a refugium

I was just wondering if anyone is using the two together at the moment. I know it says you don't need a refugium with Zeovit but I'm planning on running a smaller fuge style tank inline with my display tank to house seahorses with macroalgae. The macro is mainly for aesthetics. Will the macroalgae still survive in this environment with zeovit? Thanks in advance.

Odds are your macro will not do well. As Zeo will be battling for the available nutrients. Not sure who will win but if Zeo wins you'll have no Macro. If the Macro wins you'll have a bacteria die off and just waisting your money on Zeo

I was hoping you'd post Jason. Thanks for the input. If anything, I thought the zeo wouldn't allow the macro to survive but I wouldn't have guessed it would actually work against the zeovit reactor. Thanks again.

There have been a few people who have tried Refugiums with Zeo. Those who fought hard to keep their Macro alive found they also saw increased nitrate and phosphate levels in there display tank. I can only assume that was because the Zeo-bacteria population collapsed.

I read a bit about this because I had plumed in a tank to act as a Refugium when I biult my tank. It's now a frag tank. :)
