How to get rid of the burnt smell?
My pump went on Saturday morning, and my place STILL smells like burnt motor. I've been opening the windows as wide as I can, for as long as I can. I've cleaned out under the stand, with no benefit. I've washed all the walls around the tank, I've vaccumed numerous times, and I still smell it. I'm thinking I will clean the carpets next.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions? |
candles

I've got a few of those going now, they got rid of probablyl 80% of the smell originally. Will it do the last portion?

febreeze?

Try vinegar in boiling water in the areas that smell the worst. I've also heard lemon juice in boiling water works.
If you use febreze unplug your skimmer and cover the tank, that stuff is evil (for tanks anyways). |
I'll try the water trick today. The smell is still around, and I'm running out of "stinky" candles.
Something that helped though between yesterday and today was to move all my plants right next to the tank or on top of it. Now my tank smells like saltwater, flowers, and burnt pump! Does Febreeze come in lighter fragrances? |
How about those scented rings you put on the lightbulbs? Those work fairly well. Or the plug in air fresheners.
|
Roast some cashews on a flat pan in your oven, and leave the door open afterwords for a brief bit.
|
Do not use the plug-in air fresheners. I got an email that said those things cause more house fires than anything and should be illegal. Just FYI.

move? :surprise:
