Skimmin...
I know there are many variables that go into it...but on average how much skimmate (oz.) does your skimmer produce in a day/week? Please post tank size and skimmer size. Thanks...
|
Well, some days/weeks I get nothing, others I get a few inches in the cup over a few days. Depends on water changes, foods, feeding fequency, coral sloughing, sand bed disturbance, etc. You should probably never get a "standard" amount of skimmate.

I agree that you shouldnt expect a 'standard' amount, but it can be a good indicater something "might" be wrong. Like it might be time to pull the skimmer apart and clean it.

I empty the 64oz collector usually once a week. if i feed heavy, then twice a week. its usually THICK like oil and black. Ohh, and smells worse than Rotten green Baby ****! :)

Depends if you are getting "wet" or "dry" skim
|
So i can be pretty confident that if i put a skimmer on a 80 g tank for the first time after it had been running for 3-4 months and i only get about 2 oz of medium brown water stuff in 4 days that the skimmer really is the garbage i thought it was? (Seaclone 100)

imo seaclones are crap.
but as i remember, you have size issues dont you with your sump? if you get some measurements, we can probably find something good that will work for you. |
this skimmate is about 7-10 days, and i run it "wet" side
