How to stack live rock..

Hi everyone,

Would like to say thanks for all the great info posted here, most of my questions have been answered by the search button so far, so to this point I have been lurking :D

My current SW tank is a 48" x 12" and I am having trouble deciding which way is the best way to stack rock in it. To this point I was going to make a stack along the middle of the tank, leaving a couple of inches between the glass and the rock all the way around. Recently I have thought it might be better to stack it up along the back glass. How to get the right amount of current through it being along the back it the hard part, being as the tank is so thin.

This is my second attempt at a SW, the first 90 went down due to some worm issues, them eating all my coral untill I went on a rampage looking for them killing my rock in the process. :x

Justin, my first attempt to keep live rock was in a 48g tank, and I found I had to pile it against the back glass to leave any real viewing area in the front. Unless you have viewing from both sides, I wouldn't worry about leaving space. And as long as there are some gaps and spaces in the rock, flow shouldn't be an issue.

Brad has a good point. Mine's stacked in the middle because I have viewing on the front and back. Many of my photos have no fish in it because they've all gone to the back. :) If you don't need viewing on both sides and want to see the fish more often, stack on the back.
