look up bubble algae or Valonia, not something you want in the tank.

It is always interesting to me to realize how completely different my aquarium keeping is than what is accepted/advised.

I've always had some Valonia in my tanks and it has never been the slightest concern. It has never even come close to being a concern.

really ? id never heard of it before so i wouldnt know. only into reefs for 6 mo.

I figured you hadn't been doing this for too long since you didn't know what that algae was. I suppose I just wanted to put forth that there aren't that many "cut'n dry" answers in this hobby.

The bottom line is to create what you want from your tank. Enjoy!

that i get but i have had such an issue with a brown orange algae that i just cannot get rid of. my ph is a little high now but i have had this problem since i added my fish. this makes me off to any algae right now.

your tank will go through various algae cycles in it's infancy. Just relax and enjoy the ride :)

Also say relax but as for Valonia I think it's generally accepted to be in the nuisance algae category. If after looking into Valonia and you decide it's something you deliberately want in your tank, I'm sure there's lots of reefers out there that will offer some.
