what type of stand pipe?
what type of overflow/ standpipe are people useing now a days?
gurgle buster durso or other? |
Herbie, baby. Puts all others to shame.
|
I'm running 2-2" Durso but loud compared to a tank I heard with 2-1.5" Herbies running about twice my flow. Only noise is where the water goes over the weirs. Other plus with Herbie is no gurgling in the sump.

ok so how do you build a herbie? cause my gurgle buster is well....... not busting the gurgle!
|
Herbie...100% quiet, the only time I can hear it is if the water gets low from evaporation and I can hear the water from the skimmer, thats it.
Here is a link, just scroll down, lots of info on RC too. http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/sho...ghlight=herbie One suggestion that many on here will agree with....use a gate valve NOT a ball valve. Even if you have to order one from J&l/Oceans, get one, it will save you time. Hope that helps! Jason |
i agree
I agree with the gate valve only comment. I annoys me when people come into Herbie method discussions complaining that it didn't work for them and that they tried it with a ball valve - its like trying to push a square box through a circle.
|
A ball valve does work, it's just a real PAIN IN THE ***
:p |
I have used a ball-valve for 4+ years on my herbie, works great.
I think it should be called something other then a Herbie, cause I invented it w/o any help from Herbie.........it's true! A gate vale is better thought, much better. |
