Scooter Blenny going pale

I have 2 scooter blennies that have turned quite a bit paler in color the last couple weeks. I've had them for about 2 months. Does anyone know what the cause is...are they dying? sick? not getting something in their diet?

Its quite possible that your tank had a small amonia spike, and even more possible that the little guy is starving. Blennies eat when they are awake. Constantly eating, so unless they eat frozen food its possible they will eat more than your tank provides for them.

just did a 20% water change...see what happens over the next day. If it was ammonia that should take it down right?

Interior_Reef 02-12-2008 06:22 PM

It might, depends on how high the amonia was, if it even is amonia causing the blennie to do that.

Try to avoid chemicle, but if you have Prime, try a cap full of that, it "MAY"help a little.

do you still have a lot of pods in your tank? (on the walls, sandbed or rocks, little white "bugs")

Telford 02-13-2008 06:29 AM

don't see any little white bugs...but quite a few of the little brown flat worms. Do they eat those?

Are they very skinny? I had one that lasted almost a year but never put on any weight, then she died during and accidental sg spike. Try to get the to eat pellets if possible, then you could use an auto feeder so there will always be food during the day.

not particularly skinny...still very active

colour

Do they stay the same colour all day? Or do they change a bit, My Scooter's change a bit during day.. Happy and active.

Thanks for the info... They have gotten darker. It might have been just a period where they had changed color a bit during the day and i'd never really noticed before. Or that the water change helped.
