sand in a refugium

I was wondering if anyone knows how to calculate how much sand I will need to fill in my new refugium? I am buying the Carib-Sea Ocean Direct Original Live Sand to fill it, which has multiple grain sizes, but mainly is around 0.6MM. I am looking to have about a 6 inch sand bed for an area of 17 by 17 inches.

Thanks

Sorry to hijack, but I am running a fuge with just live rock and chaeto, would adding sand be very beneficial, or is it not worth the trouble?

Could be a benefit depending on size, do you have a DSB in the display etc. Look into RDSB.
