Epoxy glue

I broke one of my tabs on the power head for my deltec skimmer. Has anyone ever used 5 min epoxy and is it reef safe after it cures?

Epoxies don't stick to some plastics very well, if it's the typical black plastic, you may have better luck with some abs cement. Read the label and make sure it is safe for use with potable water and you should be ok.

Well I e-mailed permatex and this is what they said.

In response to your questions about epoxy being used in
aquarium applications:

* Once the epoxy is cured ... it will not outgas or give off any harmful
materials.
* However ... it has been my experience that epoxy ... when continually
immersed in fresh and salt water aquariums does not always hold its
bond.

Need to know exactly what type materials you are bonding; e.g. plastic,
metal, glass, etc ... to make a correct judgement for your particular
application.

I think I will give it a try.

I wouldn't, i've tried to glue my powerhead back on its magnet with the stuff only to have it give out as soon as its touched. I used some thick super glue and it worked great! its the same stuff i use to glue frags so its definitely reef safe.

One tab is still on I will not try to glue the tab back on but sand one small
area with sand paper just to give the glue something to grip to. And put one drop of glue on the side that does not have the tab. If I need to take the power head apart I will just cut the drop of glue with a razor blade and glue it again. I will give that a try.The big thing was is epoxy reef.

Thanks
