So when it it rains, it pours .. sometimes a little too literally

So at some point yesterday evening between about 7pm and 9pm my RO/DI decided to burst. I came downstairs to feed the fish to hear the sound of water spewing. After a moment of panic I realize all tanks are fine. But I definitely hear water spraying .. so I peek behind the furnace and there's this wonderful water fountain spraying like nuts.

Upon inspection it looks like one of the clear canisters for the prefilters developed a crack.

I wonder, can these things be replaced without buying a whole new unit? It's just the clear part itself. Can anyone recommend any place to look for something like that? I went to HD tonight but of course they didn't have anything quite like it (except for whole new units)..

That's too bad Tony, can you check the manufacture's website? Maybe they have it or have a parts distributor's list for a convenient location nearest you.

It's basically Kent Maxima that I rebuilt (it had been scavenged for parts in a previous life - it quite literally was just the brackets and canisters - even the connectors were gone). Doing a cursory search and came across this:

Although one of the user comments says it doesn't work that great with the Maxima, so I guess I'll keep looking for now, or yeah, I'll probably start emailing around. I bet J&L can order them since they sell Maxima's still I think.

check out www.purelyh20.com

Also, find the specialty stores in your area that build and install these things. They might be able to help you out.

I think I have a few kicking around, I'm sure I can find you one. All it will cost you is another trip to your basement so I can stare longingly at your clams!

Shame on you, Catherine! Oh.... you mean CLAMS!

That sucks! I hope you find a part soon.
