keeping closed loop pump quiet
So like the topic says, anybody have any ideas on how to quiet down a pump that's on a closed loop? I'm just getting my tank setup and am having a hell of a time with the pumps and plumbing - its a lot louder than I remember. And it doesn't make much sense because I'm using a eheim 1260 pump which has a reputation for being quiet already. So does anyone have any good ideas on how to keep it quiet? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's ever had this problem - my tank is in my living room in a small condo and quiet is very important for my domestic peace!

How is the pump mounted? maybe some anti-vibration material, ie rubber, on the base?

Three things I used to quiet my return pump was
1) a thick rubber underlay under the pump. 2) ran flexible hose out both sides of the pump connecting to the rigid pvc. 3) I also made sure any pvc going though the stand was not touching any part of it as it would transfer a vibration. - extra- Rubber underlay under tanks and stand Good luck Kevin |
thanks for your suggestions, I think I have several ideas to try now.....
