Mushy Chaeto

Went to rotate the two balls of chaeto in my 'fuge around and discovered that, although most of it is still "brillo pad" like, some of it is sort like hair algae and kinda mushy to the touch. The mushy part also has a whitish tinge.
Anyone seen the likes of this and know what it might be indicating, if anything?

It's the 'fuge on my FOWLR. The reef chaeto is fine.

Thanx much,

Yeah, it is disintigrating likely from poor light or flow or such. In low light and/or low flow it needs to be rotated every now & then.

Thanx for the response. It gets good light.....150W MH 7 hours/day....but I don't rotate the balls often enough....so consequently the underside wouldn't be getting enough light. Agreed on the flow point also. I'll add another powerhead and try to get it tumbling on it's own,....which is difficult to do.

Cheers,
