50 gallon calcium update
Well I tested my water today and this is what I found. It came to me as being a little suprising. Went a little something like this.......
Temp 79 Salanity 1.024 Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates 0 Phosphates 0 Alk (KH) 160 mg/L (ppm) not sure how to calculate this to meq/L Ca 560 (wow its off the chart) I dont know what I was doing before but this is the first time I have ever got a reading like that. Does anyone know how to convert the KH. Thanks Josh |
Josh, multiply ppm by 0.02. This give you 3.2 mEq/l
|
Josh I just think of it this way.
every drop of is equal to 0.2meq/l. I use hagen as well  so 16 drops =3.2meq/l same as reef raf said I guess but i suppose it's how you think about it. so now your levels look great! With the hagen test kit's you have to make sure you shake #2 extremely well! |

I think the shake was the difference.
I usually shake it a couple times but this time I gave it a real good long shake. Seems to have worked. Its reall high now, a little to high. Thanks for all your help. Josh |
3.2 meq/L is not a bad value at all.. NSW is supposedly (somewhere around) 2.6 meq/L and typically the high-tech stoney tanks are usually maintained around 4.0 meq/L.
