Anemone Identification Help
 

Howdy!

So I bought this Anemone about 2 months ago. It was sold to me as a "Carnation" anemone, but I have found it does not seem to match any of the examples of the carnation/rock flower anemone I have found online.

I'm hoping someone with more experience might be able to give it a good identification.

I appologize for the pictures, I don't think I will ever figure out how to take a decent underwater photo. This was taken before the lights came on with and using the camera flash. I know in the photos the anemone looks translucent white, in person it is more of a light yellow colour with purple tips so I think that it may be slightly bleached, but it has been pretty happy/healthy since I got it. It has a yellow/orange'ish' foot and is pretty small, less than an inch oral disk. when fully expanded it is about 3 inches around.

Can you get a pic of its foot?

My guess would be a bleached Sebae Anemone. And with the yeallowish colour you say it is i would say sebae. But the tentacles look like they have blue on the tips.We had one that looked somewhat the same as it was bleached and it did make a full recovery with some great lights and meaty foods everyday.

The very end of the tips have that little color dot on them, it is more purple than blue in person though.

I will try to get a picture of the foot if it deflates a bit.

Any suggestions on feeding, since it is small I have been giving it mysis, but more on an infrequent basis than I should. If it is a sebae I am some what surprised that it has not tried climbing higher in the tank. It's spent the entire time with me on the bottom of the tank attached to a rock, it has moved a couple times but it has just been horizontally in the tank, not up closer to the lights, which I would imagine it should do.

They choose to live at either. Its not like the lta's that most always stay on the sand.Mine was in the sand as we'll. I would feed it small pencil eraser size pieces of silversides,fresh clam meat,fresh shrimp. Find what it likes and go with it. I feed mine that size pieces everyday untill the colour came back and then started about twice a week. Most like silversides but you never know.

The anemone moved last night up against the glass so I was able to take a couple pictures of the foot this morning.

Wow, it really does look bleached from the underside eh?

Yep a very bleached sebae. Feed him good and he will come back. Lots of meaty stuff and good water condition:)

Water conditions are SG 1.025 | Ammonia 0 | Nitrites 0 | Nitrates 10 (Fighting to get these down)

I had been target feeding mysis once a week, I will start this evening feeding silversides, msysis & brine daily. :)
