Gasoline in Van tank for 2 years

Is it still in there? The van's been sitting on the driveway for the past two years. It broke down after we filled it up the tank and it hasn't been touched since.

I tell my dad that the time and equipment bought trying to get the gas to siphon out of the tank is worth more than the gasoline itself, but he's stubborn about it.

I'm thinking either the gas has totally evaporated or our hose is simply not long enough.

Any guesses?

after 2 years the gas would be no good it would be a darker color and it does evaporate too its not worth the trouble

I would respectfully desagree.
It would get darker, because havier oils will sink down, however gas companyes are keeping gasoline for longer times all they do differently is circulate the product.
Gas is still good to use all you need to do is mixit again. This is providing the tank had a good cap to keep it air tight.
No special equipment needed just a 4' hose and bucket, well and yo will need a funnel to put it to another car.

i just had a car that had sat for 5 years and when i drained the carb and it was some nasty gas it was almost brown. its up too you but i think its not worth the risk

open the cap and smell it, if it smells like gas it's probably still good, if it stinks, then it's probably bad. Old gas smells horrible, and will stink up a garage or anywhere it's spilled for a long time. And there should be a drain bolt on the bottom of the tank somewhere no need to siphon.

Scrap the van, it doesn't even transform.

Gasoline + five years in a tank might equal shellac.

Ya scrap the van.

if it's been sitting for 2 years, you have bigger problems than gas.
There's oil, coolant, flat spotted tires, possibly seized calipers, cracked belts or hoses, old brake fluid, old transmission fluid, etc.
