There's a huge aquarium at the Vancouver Airport. Opened tonight. Anyone seen it yet?

"The new wing's most stunning feature, apart from new Northwest Coast Native art, is a pair of aquariums. One 114,000-litre tank houses 850 animals, including rockfish, anemones, sea stars and other indigenous marine life.
A smaller, 3,800-litre tank features 100 moon jellies, the most common jellyfish found on the coast.
Cowan said the aquarium has its own treatment plant and the Vancouver Aquarium has an aquarist on site each day to maintain the marine exhibits."

Looks great! :D

Anyone know if this display is in the international zone, or will everyone have access to it? ie people not getting on or off a plane?

it was on the news today and by the looks of it, it is located with the duty free shops which would add up that it is behind security?

The tank is in international so yeah you'd have to go past security just to look at it. It's PITA for the guys who have to go out to maintenance it, but that said, it is still a VERY nice tank. the way the halides are set up make shafts of light and is, in the words of one guy at the aquarium, "a religious experience."

so go see it if you're ever on your way out to china or something.

only bad thing about the tank is that in the MIDDLE of the pane, is a seam. why they have the seam in the MIDDLE of the pane is beyond me, but most people won't notice it since they wont be examining it very closely (like we would).

matt, we still love your lil tank!
