Ok I just saw this in the March edition of ReefKeeping magazine and had to post it as a sticky. If anyone has ever wondered well pretty much anything about metal halide bulbs and ballasts, this article has the answer! :biggrin:

-u guyz know by any chance what ''UV STOP'' means on
double-ended HQI's? cuz i know that double-ended usu-
ally emit too much uv radiation unlike single-ended bulbs.

-so does ''UV STOP'' meen no need for a protective
glass sheet 2 absorb the radiation?

Christy, when you moved over the board, what did you do with the articles the members spent time writing for the board? I was trying to find my Part 1 of my lighting series and it is no where to be found.

I moved it into the reference library under great canreef threads. I'll have to go through that forum eventually and get some of the stuff out of there into the reference library.:biggrin:
