ABS for coil denitrifier?

Is ABS usable? Is it rated as potable for drinking water? It would sure be cheaper to buy 2 feet of ABS rather than the PVC.

Thoughts... suggestions?

ABS is just fine for plumbing tasks... No it's not rated for potable water use - however 90% of your aquarium equipment is made out of it ;)

Cool, glad I asked.

Thanks, Doug

i remember reading somewhere that abs only leeches chemicals when heated. I think it was something like over 40 degrees celcius, which'll never happen in our tanks if we can help it :)

That's why it's not pottable though, because if water from your hot water tank were to go through it, it would be unsafe to drink.

It's safe is used in small quantities, basically.
