Redox levels

i just calibrated and connected my redox probe for the profilux and initially i had a reading of 228mv and now it is down to 202mv. i've been having a hell of a time researching redox and its relation to the tank. from what i have found it should be reading 400 + or - some for natural seawater. how do i raise the redox level? any good web pages as to researching redox?

I get anywhere between 300 and 400.
Also higher the pH lower the ORP will be.
You can get it up by injecting ozone into your skimmer.
But mostly you just watch for changes.
Last thing, dirtier the probe, higher the reading and after cleaning it really goes down for a few hours.
It's also good to have a ground probe in the tank.

my ph is 8.2 and the probe is brand new it just went in the sump last night.

ORP Probes usually take up to a week to "settle in". I wouldn't worry too much and lower levels 280-350 are normal for a tank without ozone. (especially in the winter when indoor C02 levels are elevated)

thanks psyire. the level has slowly increased over the past couple hours, but still nowhere near those levels. i'll wait a week and see how it goes

Can anyone comment on how often you should replace your probes?

They recommend 18 to 20 months for Pinpoints but you can use them until they can't be calibrated or read the right value. Even if the calibration is off, you can add or subtract the offset to your tank reading.
