What brand of MH lights...
 

Ok, so I just switched to a reef system (stupid stupid stupid) and I have
175w Hamilton lights on my tank right now (10,000k). Can anyone give me some brands (of lights) to stay away from....or that I should get when my bulbs start to go?

Great place to start. Pick your wattage, pick your ballast, find your bulb. "PPFD" (a.k.a. PAR) value is the stuff your photosynthetic organisms actually use.

Of course "look" is always subjective and pictures are often extremely misleading. You pretty much have to see the bulb in action in person for an accurate representation.
