What is this!?

I just found this ugle crab thing eating my zoo's.
Anyone know what it is?
He was a tough catch fast and sure held those rocks tight!

Der_Iron_Chef 11-10-2006 05:32 AM

Looks to me like an emerald crab.

Emerald Crabs Benifical?

Tarolisol 11-10-2006 05:48 AM

Is it hairy? If so it could be a gorrila crab.

The jury's out on emerald crabs. I found this discussion on reefcentral:

Crabs

Take a look at the front claws the bad ones tend to have pointy sharp claws where the more frfiendly have flattened blunt claws .GL

Does it have red eyes?

michika 11-10-2006 03:22 PM

Are its front pinches black, or very dark brown, coming to a distinct point?
What color are the eyes?

From your picture I say gorilla, and I guess its still pretty small. I have a few very similar photos of a crab in my tank whom I cannot catch.

I'd "rock" him

Hey John. I have a crab in my tank with almost suction cup-like points on the ends of his claws instead of sharp points. Is it safe to say that he will be ok in the tank or no? He's getting pretty big and I don't want him to get too big. Sorry to hijack.
