Can I keep a smaller clam in a 10 gallon nano under 96w pc lighting?

Clams get big! You might be able to keep a lower light clam like a derasa but overall I would discourage you from trying in a 10g tank. Like I said they get big. They also require very consistently high water quality which is a difficult thing to maintain in a small tank.

If you had a baby clam that was still consuming large amounts of phyto, it would probably be alright for any species, but again water quality is an issue, as well, most of the clams that could survive under that light(I guess all but crocea, and maybe maxima) get fairly large. Derasas can still attain about 12-14 inches I believe, that would be quite the dedicated tank :lol:

I've had a crocea clam in my 20 gallon nano for over a year now, and he seems to be doing just fine. The tank has 120watts PC light, and he's up on the rock near the top. He's not growing very much, but has better color than when I first got him.

I would reccommend 20 gallons minimum temporary housing, and as with everything the bigger the better! Within the month he'll be re-housed in my new 46 gallon reef tank.
