live rock in canister?
 

i want to keep extra live rock in my canister for extra bio filtration, but without light will i get die off and an ammonia spike?

Some stuff will die off like corraline algeas but the benefical bacteria should be fine.

If you are crafty, there are ways to put small lights inside canister filters. I believe "Fish" had a neat one made for his mantis nano.
