WTB: Maxijet part
Well, I made a big mistake today. While cleaning a few maxijets, I decided to boil a few parts. Although I only boiled for a few minutes, the plastic warped. Now I have 3 working maxijets without a very important part. Here's a picture to illustrate the part I need.
http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...m/IMG_2052.jpg As you can see, it's very warped and no longer fits on. I tried looking at different websites for this part, but could not find it, and I do not want to spend 30$ each on new ones. I need one for a maxijet 1200, and two for maxijets 400. I will pay shipping if from another province. |
What if you heated it again, (not boiled) until it straightened and let it cool flat?
|
You think it might work if I tried it in the oven? If so, what temperature do you think I should use?
|
No, heat in again in water.
|
If I were you, before "rebuilding" this one, (excuse me) these three maxi jets, I'd watch the DIY maxijet video at this site first.

i'll tell you right now, good luck finding that part, i looked for that exact part for a 1200 and 400 with absoluetly no luck. you have to find someone that has one MJ destroyed that'll part it out

Scavenger, I run 2 of those in my tank. They work great!
|
Cool video, but did you guys get your shrouds and props from MJMODS.com, or did you diy? Do you know any Canadian retailers who sell props and carbon fibre rod? I would love to make something like this for my Mj 1200, because I will soon be upgrading my tank.

The parts can all be found locally. 3/32 stainless at a welding supply, 1 1/2" sch 80 pvc at a plumbing supply, .098 id carbon fiber tube at Burnaby Hobbies. Props are a bit trickier. So far the best prop I've tried is the Proboat Riptide, but I'd like to try the Nitro Hammer if I could find one.
