Tunze Osmolater Meter Pump

Anybody have any experience with these pumps crapping out? Were you able to fix it or did you replace the pump?

Hey there Lando i didnt know that you have a osmolator. The pump are pretty strong and should last unless it was used with kalk with the dispenser..

I think I am on my 4th pump in 2 years(about $25 each). One was fried after running dry. I think it is suppose to have a run dry feature but I don't think it kicks in soon enough. I do use it with a kalk reactor and on my old set-up was pumping 5ft verticle so the head was probably more than the unit was designed for. I've been able to lower it to about 3ft now, which works alot better. Overall I like the system and would buy it again.

Thanks Hawk, I couldn't agree more it is a great sytem with many fail safes. I guess I will just have to get a new pump.

FWIW, I got word from Roger the tunze rep on RC... He mentioned the pumps life is only expected to be 18-24 months.

Mine lasted about that long.
If you're looking for good top off pump get dosing pump (peristaltic).

i know its been awhile for this post...just thought i'd sread my finding......

there is a guy on ebay from calgary who sells a "12volt wowpump 200gph"
they are cheap and work great. You can get 4 for what JL charges for one.

mr_alberta 10-09-2007 08:37 PM

You can also get 12VDC pumps from Princess Auto for about $10.

Joe Reefer 10-09-2007 08:46 PM

I dont think I paid more than 10 bucks for the replacement from JL.

Crazy I've been running mine for 3 years without any problems. I guess I have something to look forward to. Might pick up a new pump just to have on hand
