High River 300 Gallon In-wall System
I and Moogled had a good chance to visit and snap some shots of an incredible three-four month old reef tank in High River last night. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking:
http://img351.imageshack.us/img351/2...kdayyb7.th.jpg Front of the tank with the room lights on showing the incredible cabinet work surrounding the tank. http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/3...yoffpe3.th.jpg Here's the tank with the room lights off. http://img272.imageshack.us/img272/8...ightxq5.th.jpg Tank just as the timers shut down the 250 watt halides. Just some things of note. I had no tripod, so I couldnt' really capture a super sharp shot of the whole deal. It's hard to tell at this view, but the tank is mad clean. A bare bottom with zero algae problems. I can't wait to see this thing once all the frags have grown in. Also, the tank is 30" from back to front. I and Gord spent a lot of time planning and arranging the rockwork. There's no "wall" look to be had here. You really do have to see it in person to appreciate the depth of the view. Here's one side of the tank detailing the rock work: http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9194/archlg4.th.jpg We used a framework of PVC pipes to hold up an arch of live rock for this structure. But yeah, I have to run to work right now, but I'll post some more pics of the tank inhabitants and some specs later tonight. |
Wow!, looks awesome. I am in the early stages of planning a 350 gal myself. It will visible from both sides. Now I know who to talk to when the time comes. LOL
By the way I just met you yesterday. The wife and I were in your store buying some frags around dinner time. It was nice to meet you. You have a nice store, we'll be back without a doubt. |
Drooool!

ASM G5 Skimmer rockin' the house. http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/1...bingqz3.th.jpg Some of the plumbing. Of note are the external overflows. For those of you planning new tanks, keep these in mind. They are such a hassle-free way of eliminating noise, internal cumberance AND salt spray. - - - - - AND they won't lose siphon!!1!!1 http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/6109/dartug9.th.jpg Reeflow Dart. http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/4428/fugegr7.th.jpg Refugium. http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/4...unitds8.th.jpg Big R/O unit for tank top off. http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/2...nterpj8.th.jpg Here's one of the power centers. There's another one on the other side of the tank and these are both rigged into a seperate power box. Some of the stuff I didn't snap. - HUGE UV Sterlizer. - 2 x SEIO 1500 Powerheads. - 6' 250 watt Coralife Pro Lighting Unit. Lesson I learned from doing all this: The eye > measuring tools. |
Oh yeah, totally forgot about a stock list:
- 3 Regal (Blue) Tangs - 1 Grey Angel - 1 Majestic Angel - 1 Flagfin Angel - 1 Porcupine Puffer - 1 Tassled Filefish - 1 Purple Tang - 1 Mandarin Fish - 1 Scooter Blenny - 1 Blue Devil - 1 HUGE Domino Damsel - 2 Cleaner Shrimp - 1 Fire Shrimp - 1 Sea Hare More assorted corals than I care to name. Mostly small pieces that will shape up the tank nicely in a year's time. |
Nice stuff.
