No fish means no nitrates.
 

I know, DUHHHHH

but I am running a nano reef without any fish. I throw in some mysis for my shrimp, some plankton for my filter feeders and my water conditions are perfect. I didn't need to buy another skimmer or anything. People with nanos should give this a try, heck people with 50 gals should give this a try. There are plenty cool lookin' inverts out there to amuse yourself.
