The Great Sandbed Swap Reno (with pics)
So I decided that I was sick of looking at my 20G in its natural and wholly messy looking state..so i decided that a change of sandbed and deforestation were in order.
Here is the Before (Mar 17): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../tankmar17.jpg All in all quite "festive" but just not as sharp looking as it should be. So i removed the entire sandbed and most of the liverock that didn't have coral or coralline growth on it. Then i repositioned and glued in place corals (like the frogspawns) that were inconvieniently shoved into the sand. and here is the day it was changed (May 7): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...fish/tank2.jpg Here is the After (May 23): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../tankmay23.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...sh/lgpile1.jpg The re-growth has been very very good!! The sandbed is now black, and the design is now very minimalistic, as the tank itself is quite small--20gallons-- I will only be adding rock to the two piles as needed, and trying to maintain the seperation in the middle. IMO it looks much better this way!! :D Tina |
Looking very nice.

It looks good Tina.
Watch that xenia though as if left unchecked will take over the tank in no time.. |
Looking great Tina! I like the zoo garden, hehe. How's that frogspawn doing?
Take care! Chris |
nice change! (I bet it was a fair amount of work!)
|
thanks all!
ya it was a fair amount of work-- sorted out my LR with no growth and tossed it in a bucket, then took the whole sandbed out and washed out the tank completely in the yard... i was concerned that the tank might be shocked by the loss of the established sandbed, but its come back completely and perfectly :) chris- - the frogspawn is looking more fabulous every day!! really nice emerald green and purple!! thanks a million (again!) |
Awesome! Glad it found a happy home!
