Maxi Stream Mod

Want to know if anyone has tried this mod? Looks like you can get massive flow cheaply.

I am in the process of assembling all the pieces to do this to a MJ1200. Just need some pipe and a prop or two. I hope it works as well as they say it does.

I spent part of the weekend hacking up a 1" pvc Slip - Slip connector to try it out on a penguin 550 I had sitting unused... I know a lot of people swear by them, sure beats buying a seio / tunze to get the same thing.

Did you get your penguin 550 modded or still in the works? Where did you source the properler?

Props

I think you can get props from Great Hobbies (see link below, there is a store in Edmonton). Let me know if those mods work well.

Still in the works, need to chase down an appropriate shaft, and prop. Probably get both from PM hobbycrafts - mailordering 10$ worth of parts doesn't make much sense given the customs charges ;)

I've done the mod to an aquaclear 402 using a 1445 prop that I ordered directly from Octura out of Illinois. Used a 2" to 1.5" abs coupling for the shroud. Works great and produces a tremendous amount of flow. The only downside is that you have to dremel down the prop so the 402 will turn it, and the pump has to be started out of the water. When started underwater, it will go in reverse every time, even if a stopper is incorporated into the shroud. I'm going to mod my Aquaclear 4000's as soon as I get my larger props in from Octura because the 4000s have way bigger impeller magnets and should be able to produce a ridiculous amount of flow. Will post pics of the mods shortly for anyone who is interested

FYI - for you calgary folks, Model land carries a whole bunch of boat props (PM doesn't carry really any) and pretty much every size of carbon fibre rod you can ask for.

Does anybody know what shop in Vancouver would be good for this stuff?
