I should post a picture of my so called "frag" tank. Its quite embarrasing

Looks like you've got a 70's theme going on in that tank.

Cha Cha Cha Chia.

i have an algae situation that i think i'm getting a hold of and my astraea's look like that. whats a good way to clean them off? is it safe to have them out the water for a minute to cut the algae off and give them a good cleaning or should it be doen underwater

They are fine out of water to clean them. You can even gently use a toothbrush (not your own but one specifically for tank use - and don't use someone elses who you are PO'd at either - it's not good for the snail:mrgreen: ). If you want you can put it in a small bowl or container of water to scrub. Don't do it in your tank or you will just help spread the algea.

last time i did it i used a small bowl but tried to clean them under the water because i thought it was bad for them to be in the air

I say leave it in there.... it does look pretty hip
