Anemone hosting dominos
well looks like my domino damsels (3 spots) are finding a nice home in my green carpet anenome, may sound odd but it seems to be decently common. I kinda wanted to get some gold stripe marrons for it, but it may end it a bloody battle for the anemone (could be interesting though, lol JK :twised: ).
If they take to it well, ill post some pics. |
Not unusual at all. damsels and clowns are related species, the dominos are closer to the clowns than the damsels despite their name. They are know to host in the wild and in captivity.

Cool, I did not know that, very interesting.

And you call yourself the Reef Geek
Haha, kidding of course  |
I should probably change my name to AReefGeek instead of TheReefGeek
And I can always say I am just TheReefGEEK, not TheReefNERD. :) |
Yes, I saw this behaviour while diving in Fiji. Large schools of them occupying the same anemone.
|
is it a small domino or a grown one?
|
I have read of damsels being called members of the 'anemonefish' family along with clowns. (I don't know if that's a real name or not)
One of the coolest photos I've seen was of two dominos hosting inside the mantle of a giant clam. - Chad |
Snap a pic of that
