so i was at big als and they where selling this mamoth sand bed filter... and i bought it thinking i might resell it and now im wondering if there is a potential use for a saltwater app?? http://www.pelicanpool.com/pools/23proseriesr.htm
i have only ever seen these thins run on ponds or pools. is anyone using one of these or seen one used? is it worth it to use? Richard |
I run 2 on my 30,000 gallon shark tank ;)

I've seen them used on big fresh water systems (Mostly in LFS's), but never seen one used in a saltwater reef application. I'd suspect it would be graet for a FOWLR system.

It is basically just a big fluidized bed filter. Nitrate production is high with those, so I'd say it would not be the best choice for any application other than a swimming pool. For water ponds, the similar bead filters are preferred now as they are better suited.
