Racoon Butterfly

Just wondering if anyone has successfully kept a racoon butterfly in a reef tank???

A few sites i've been reading say that they will pick on soft corals...

Thanks

Ty

From talking to my friend at Coral Ocean, its pretty much a given that a raccoon butterfly will pick at your corals. There are exceptions to every rule, but most butterflies are coral-eaters & non-reefsafe. Heniochus & Copperbands are the reef-safe species that I can remember. A friend tried a Lattice, but it was a coral eater too.

I have never kept a racoon, but I keep several butterflies in my reef. Yes, softies are not an option for the most part. IME the Red Sea Butterfly is the best aiptasia eater and the least picker at all else.
