Is that a bunch of little suncorals growing in the flame scallop pic?

OCDP 02-03-2006 03:28 PM

Wow , you should take a top-down picture of that clam. Looks like it has some sweet colours.

Good eye Muck.. they look like baby sun corals to me too.

Thanks for sharing.

nice shots. the scallop has nice colours. how hard to keep? how often do you need to feed it?

TheReefGeek 02-03-2006 03:56 PM

I thought flame scallops were very specific filter feeders (particle size) that could not be maintained in a reef?

OCDP 02-03-2006 04:41 PM

You are correct. They usually do not last too long (from what I have read). Amazing little creatures though... very cool.

Yup your right, they are sun corals. My suncoral keeps spawning and I have about 50 or so growing in the tank.
The electric flame I got about 2 weeks ago, Hidden Reef has a few of them. I have another flame scallop that has been in the tank for 1 year now. We don't target feed it anything. We just feed the tank and the scallop looks healthy.
I have a real cool video of the scallop "sparking", I wish I could post it somehow.
When I get a spare piece of glass or acrylic I will take a top down shot. He really is beautiful.
Thanks for the compliments all!
Chris
