open brain coral swelling
well, like the subject line says, my open brain coral swells sometimes so much so that it looks like it's gonna blow up!! is this normal? it seemed like it only used to do this at night but quite frequently it does this during the day. comments? is this a good sign or bad?
appreciate your help... darryl |
Good sign indeed - mine will more than double its size when happy - which is most of the time.

good news, thanks Rich! it seems as though it's changed to this way since i've given it a touch more subdued light...or maybe it's something else  not 100% sure. but i'm glad it's good!

I am not sure if this is a sign of happyness or that they are trying to get more light as then need more food, mine only swells to the monster size under low light.

i am sure i don't have a light issue -- 1 400w mh - 2 250w mh - 2 110w atinic vho's - and its on the sand - no blockage from light in a 120 gal - Could be wrong on the happiness being bloated but when everything in my tank is happy they are all out and flowing - when levels are off a bit no-one is out and the brain is deflated - just my observation in my own tank
Every day is a learning experiance so if someone knows the actual behaviour of a brain please share. Cheers Rich |
OK, i talked to OA and they confirmed that it should be a happy brain when it swells, so i guess i'll just keep watching it for change...onr way or the other...

Yeah my new brain likes too sit around and be fat too

there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason why they swell up. some days mine is fat as budda other days its just a minor deity. it always seems happy and looks nice so who knows.

Mine is always just nice and fat, i hate it when it gets all tight and small!
When is all fat like that, it looks like a big pile of pink jelly  |
mmmmmm , pink jelly..
