PH question

Had my water tested at big al's and he said my ph is at 7.7, tested it at home and it says its right around 8.4. Wouldn't there be some adverse effects in my tank if the ph dropped? I ask this because all my corals are happier then they ever were right now, my fish, inverts are thriving.

only problem is a little bit of Algae but we havent been keeping up with cleaning of powerheads and filters and the glass.

what do you guys think?

was testing with a kit or a meter?

Could the ph change from the time you took the sample to the time it was tested?? Just a thought. Both of those ph levels are ok, not perfect but nothing to panic about.

with a kit.

Dave- the water i gave him to test was pretty cold, could that affect the test maybe? it was cold from being out side on the way to the store.

cold and shaking should raise the pH, not lower it. If everything in your tank looks good, you're probably fine. If you can grab a meter somewhere, that will give you more accurate results.
