Protopaly thread!!!
This has to be one of my favorites.They grow huge,sometimes bigger than quarters.They also havent been the slowest either,i get a few poyps every week or so.In some lighting they also get a green skirt!http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...600_x_450_.jpg

I had no idea until last week that those buttons could come in different colours. I've got some greenish ones in one tank and about a zillion brown ones in amongst my tanks.

I think protopalys are the sweetest of all zoo's they are really colorfull,bigger than a pencil eraser,and come in cool two tone morphs.They are in the same family as purple people eater,RPE,ect.
EDIT: the speckelled ones in different colors are also quite nice.Please people post pics of your sweet palys!!! cmon!! :biggrin: |

Ive seen that they get a nice salmon color under MH lighting,what color bulb do you run?

Could someone who knows post the difference between zoanthids, and Palythoa :question: I sold my corals book, and don't know the difference.
I remember having some green button polyps that wanted to take over the tank. :eek: |
Palythoa are the matting type that encrust like a GSP.Protopalys look like a big zoanthid usually more colorfull and dont share a continous mat.Green button polyps are proto's.Acual paly's you dont see to often and they are usually tan,brown,green.Hope this helps.
