Hammerhead - Algae Free Magnet

I purchased this magnet a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it works  , it even cleans the edge along the silicon. Where you would normally be using a razor or scraper this magnet cleans with no problems. I was using a mag float before this new magnet and it worked well but is incompariable to the Hammerhead. Moving it around on the glass actually takes a little elbow grease.

i concur

i concur and its been one of my the best investment for my tank. although I can't get the corners as well as you've described... still needs scrapers for the corners.

I agree with Chin. Still have to go in with a razor on the corners but otherwise works very well.

Maybe its because my velcro pad is new.

Or you have been more diligent in glass maintenance than me. Mine is only a couple of weeks old also but still have to scrape the corners to get the buildup off.

i hate my tiger shark . poor design the inside peice is smaller than the outside leaves a nice even boarder around the tank . contacted algae free thay said they could make a peice the same size of the out side but they would have to charge me plus shiping . thanks but no thanx

I am pretty dilegent on keeping my glass clean. I don't like when the glass is dirty at the edges and corners.

Hey Golden is the tigershark bigger than the hammerhead?

Ruth 10-15-2005 05:06 PM

The tiger shark is bigger than the hammerhead. I made a mistake - I have the tiger shark and the piranha. I really like both magnets but on the tiger shark the cleaner magnet part is smaller than the outside part making it very hard to get into corners.

It sounds like these things really work.
I have a magfloat for my glass bowfront. It does the job.

Magfloats have never worked for my 150g acrylic. Do you think the the Algae Free series will work? I am guessing that my acrylic is about 3/4" thick. Do I need a Tiger Shark? It sounds like the smaller inside float is a bit of a PIA?

thoughts....
