Durso construction
As it was going to be much to large I have decided to go with 1 1/2" PVC fittings and tubing. To make for even more space saved I have trimmed off part of the 90 and the T fittings to make it even more space efficient.

Here is the lower fitting that goes into the bulkhead in the bottom of the tank. As well the top cap which will have a small air valve mounted in it to conto the water level in the standpipe.

All fittings "put together" and in the tank. So that woud lbe able to use the large tubing and such wiht a smaller overflow box I wanted, I have not glued the top "T" fiting to the standpipe. Hopefully this will allow me to remove the top section as necessary.

I am putting the reduction after the bulkhead. I have spoken with others who haven't tho and it works fine for them.

Darren, FWIW, I tried both and found the reduction technique quieter.

Why didn't you just use a Stockman overflow? You would have been able to use the larger pipe size without any problems.
Did you find some flexible PVC when you bought your fittings? |

And make sure that you do a really good job of making sure that the male threads on the stand pipe and the female threads in the bulkhead remain clean. If you get even a couple of grains of sand in there you'll be hard pressed to ever get the stand pipe out.

Darren,
So what is the distance for the hole in the tank, from the edges? How big will the overflow box be? |
