Salinity Question

what is the best level to keep salinity at??

Skimmerking 08-12-2005 02:46 AM

natural sea water is arouind 1.025 and the red sea is hangin around 1.027
its up to you in the long run more salt higher salinity less salt less .

Usually around 1.025 -.026 for me.

shotzee 08-12-2005 03:32 AM

I aim for 1.026. Used to run at 1.021 when it was only a marine tank to save on salt but after converting toa reef its best around 1.025-1.027.

1.026 when I check..

1.025 I feel it gives me a small margin because I don't have auto topoff.

What sort of differences would be visible if a guy or gal changed from say 1.023 to 1.025? other than buying more salt !

Less green perhaps

Up until a few days ago I've had mine at 1.022 but I've since raised it to 1.024 or 1.025. I've noticed that my SPS hasn't been extended as much and I think that might be why.

i used to keep it around 1.023. now i keep mine at around 1.026. i found that my corals look better when my salinty is higher.

There are quite a few running at 1.025!
I may have to start slowly increasing mine!
