Anyone got or know anything about Boston Terriers?
Just thought I see if anyone has one out there or knows friends that do have one and what they liked and disliked about the breed.
Thanks in advance for any tips.  |
well, not really a fan of small dogs per se ( got a dog the size of a small horse now!) but an old roomie of mine had one. since then i've always thought i would get one some day and would still like one. IMO they're great characters and i laughed continually when he was around. only thing you may want to look into are genetic faults with them...and be aware of what you may be getting yourself into in that regard. i give em 2 big thumbs up personally

Lee,
They're super-cute and friendly dogs. They are prone to a host of genetic problems, so quality breeding is a must to avoid problems with deafness, eyes and joints. I truly wouldn't discourage anyone, as they are terrific dogs, but in my experience (years of working in the pet industry), you'll get to know your vet better with this breed than most. Buy from a breeder, and ask direct questions about the parents health histories. Don't buy any pup if you can't meet the mother! Regards, Matthew |
We had a boston when I was really little. The only thing I remember about her, was her eyes kept popping out and we had to take her to the vet to get it put back in

I had a Boston for years-awesome dog, lots of character! Just don't make him mad! He had an incerdible personality for sure!
He was a larger variety (about 25 lbs) but lots of energy. Made it for 12yrs, and then it was medically time to put him down. |

 HOLY CRAP... no way! Are ya serious? They do have big bulging eyes though, except I'm looking at ones that not the standard black and white colors but red and white coats. There so pretty and have greenish eyes instead of those big poped out black eyes. I would love to own a doberman but to big of a doggie for me right now, so dobie will have to wait till later in life. But Boston Terriers I've recently though would fit me better right now. Just looking for input and dont ever seem to see anyone with them. I have come to discover their crazy expensive though! So I'm doing my research first. Thanks for all the good tips everyone! Love to hear more thoughts and advice if anyone has any. Thanks a bunch everyone! Back to puppies on the brain! Lee |

Thanks for sharing with me though. If I finally pick one I will try to make sure its eye's are fastened   I just can't decide what's better a male or female? Also I can't believe how crazy expensive purebred puppies are going for these days!! :shocked!: $1,450.00 from a breeder!!! In the PJ's Pet store (i'd never buy from though) I seen these guys for $1,999.00 :shocked!: Am I just out of the times on puppy prices?  |
Some puppies are a lot more than others for sure.
You should just get a boxer instead. More dog for the price.. |
